Authors tested the Impulsive Behaviors Checklist for Adolescents (IBCL-A). Findings support use of the IBCL-A among adolescents. Scale scores predict borderline personality disorder in both genders. Relational aggression (i.e., behavior intended to harm others’ relationships) is more common among girls and is under consideration as a criterion for Conduct Disorder in the DSM-V. This is the first study aimed at determining whether clinicians can reliably assess relational aggression. Results indicate that clinicians were able to detect all subtypes of aggression, including relational aggression. Implications for DSM-V changes and future research were considered.
